We believe in the power of green to bring people closer together. Football is a great example of this. We are the regular supplier for many professional greenkeepers/groundsmen in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. Besides supplying the necessary raw materials for the perfect turf, we are also active on the field. Since 2019 we are the proud main sponsor of Fortuna '54 Ladies from Geleen.

Fortuna '54 is a football club with a lot of history. The club finds its origin in the Limburg mining area, where it was one of the first in the Netherlands to play professional football. In the season of '56/'57 the team even finished second in the national competition, where they were only 4 points behind national champion Ajax.

Since then, a lot has changed for Fortuna '54. The club represents Limburg with its two highest playing teams, senior and U17, in the NL-KNVB competition. The U17 and U15 teams also play against top international clubs in the ever-expanding FERTinTIME competition (European Friendship Tournament/EFT).

Players, public and sponsors come from a radius of about 60 km around the Westelijke Mijnstreek from NL, B and D. Fortuna'54 and its original founder Gied Joosten, find their historical roots in Lutterade (Geleen). These pioneers are at the cradle of the NL professional football and the former star team that caused international furore and formed the core of the Dutch national team for years.

That proven common sense, combined with the latest football insights and courage, we find again in today's Fortuna'54, with its focus on performance football girls and women.

The ambition of Fortuna'54 is obviously focused on the highest attainable level. At the same time, Fortuna'54 is committed to the targeted development of girls' and women's football in and around the Westelijke Mijnstreek, in NL, B and D. Important initiatives are: a football school for young girls (football players and goalkeepers), recurring top football clinics at secondary schools (during school hours) and football events together with other football clubs.

Development occurs first and foremost at the football technical level in the central relationship between top coaches and players. Basic qualities, mentality and ambition form the basis.

Fortuna'54 trains at Sanderbout/Mijn Zuid and also uses other accommodations for matches (e.g. Graaf Huyn Sportcomplex Geleen). The international matches of the FERTinTIME-EFT competition are mainly played in Eisden Maasmechelen-B (Complex Patro, Coal Mine Limburg Maaslaan).
